Life drawing at my studio

Fascinated by drawing human figures, and eager to learn to see, life-drawing to me has always been a valuable way to study the art of drawing in general. I would love to share this with those who are up for some serious exploration and improvement of their drawing skills.

Based on lessons taken at The Art Students League in NYC in 2010 and 2011, I have been teaching life drawing since 2014.

Starting in Amsterdam and continuing whilst living in England me and my family returned to Arnhem in 2019, the place where I graduated in 1996 at the Fashion Design department at ArtEZ.

Besides working as freelance fashion illustrator amongst a.o. for ELLE magazine and SHOWstudio ( London), I am currently teaching fashion illustration at Akademie Vogue in Amsterdam and am a regular guest tutor at ArtEZ.

Using accessible and yet challenging methods the emphasise in my class lies on  translating the human figure into lines.
Grouping and systematically building the elements of the pose.
Prioritising within the drawing;
A one minute pose requires a different approach than a twenty-minute one.
Drawing a short pose calmly can be done as long as the right choices are being made.

Last but not least; my lessons are open to all levels.
