GONE WITH THE WIND

An exhibition by curators Alexander van Slobbe and Francisco van Benthum for the Zuiderzee Museum in 2009.

For it's 60th anniversary the museum organised a large group show involving artists, fashion designers and illustrators. I was approached and briefed to create my own take on Dutch folkloric garments. I had acces to all the garments preserved by the museum.

During eight months I drew portraits and figures wearing the traditional clothing combining it with pieces from my own wardrobe. By using black ink only I tied together a series of individual drawings, creating a sense of depth & perspective through placement and by using different sizes of paper on a black background.

Below pictures of the process and the final presentation at the Museum in Enkhuizen ( NL).

One of the artworks I put on screen and is available as silkscreen ( edition of twenty)

A booklet ' First Second' as well as a card series were published in 2009 and in 2013 during the exhibition 'WIT' at the Dutch Photo Museum Rotterdam curated by Anne van der Zwaag.
